The CLSB welcomes the clarity of today’s ruling in Mazur and is committed to working collaboratively with the other frontline legal regulators and LSB to deliver consistency in the interests of the public and the regulated community.

Today’s ruling reaffirms to all Costs Lawyers that there are limitations on what and how work can be delegated to unauthorised individuals.

For unregulated costs advisors, there is further clarity on the distinction between work undertaken for authorised persons, i.e. another Costs Lawyer or a solicitor, compared with that for litigants in person. We encourage everyone working in the legal sector to consider the ruling in full.

Like other frontline legal regulators, the CLSB will review the ruling in more detail and issue any further updates should they be necessary.
