New Practising Rules for Costs Lawyers will come into force on 1 August 2020, following approval from the Legal Services Board in July. The Practising Rules establish the criteria for obtaining a Costs Lawyer practising certificate and govern a practitioner’s right to carry out reserved legal activities, such as conducting litigation and exercising the right of audience. The new rules will modernise the CLSB’s practising regime and facilitate the move to a digital process for renewing Costs Lawyers’ practising certificates later this year.
