The CLSB has today implemented new Disciplinary Rules and Procedures (DR&P). The DR&P establish processes for determining whether a Costs Lawyer has breached our regulatory rules and, if so, the sanctions that apply.

The new DR&P are designed to clarify and streamline our disciplinary processes, ensuring they are fit for the modern age and incorporating best practice from across the legal sector. They also introduce a new power for the CLSB to suspend a Costs Lawyer’s practising certificate for an interim period where this is necessary to protect the public.

The DR&P are supplemented by a number of new policies, which are available on the Disciplinary Outcomes page of our website.
