The CLSB has today issued a consultation paper on a proposed new means of qualifying as a Costs Lawyer. The proposal seeks to remove eight identified barriers to entry into the profession and regulation by way of a Costs Lawyer Competence Test (CLCT). The CLCT would provide greater access to those legally qualified and Costs Draftsmen. It seeks to shift the focus from prescribed educational inputs to competence at point of entry. The CLSB believes the proposal aligns to the Strategic Plan of the Legal Services Board published 6 April 2018 to promote the public interest, ensure access and enable innovation, growth and diversity.
The closing date to respond to the consultation is midnight on Friday 22 June 2018.More Information - Consultation Paper CLCT
